EN is one of CHiKA's ongoing series. It is a Japanese homophone with a multitude of meanings. In Japanese - Chinese characters, this word is pronounced similarly to others. Its purpose differs. It simultaneously means Circle ( 円 ), Connection ( 縁 ), and Feast ( 宴 ). EN08 explores endless lines and circles to mesmerize viewers.

Artist Bio

CHiKA is a Japanese-born New York-based artist who makes a site-specific interactive light installation to connect people. She uses a Japanese homophone and the latest technology to create visual sculptures for the public to interact with and share a moment of discovery. She is also a performing VJ, technologist, researcher, and educator.

Her work has been shown in the US as well as numerous international venues and festivals. Some sites include the American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Art and Design, NY Hall of Science, Bronx Museum, the Hammer Museum, San Francisco Art Institute, Centre d' Art Contempo Rain, Museo Regional de Guadalajara, Matador Madrid, International Biennial Contemporary Art ULA-2, Mapping Festival, Mutek, amongst others.
