La tristesse du Roi (Fr. The Sorrows of the King - 1952) is a collage using cut-out paper shapes by Henri Matisse. It is known to be his final self-portrait. The original artwork is made from pieces of gouache-painted paper. This animated version adds subtle movement to the colorful but somber scene.
