Located in Moab, Utah these evaporation ponds are used to extract potash from deep within the earth to transform into potassium salts for fertilizer. The ponds are dyed electric blue when they are full to speed up the evaporation process. Whereas the surrounding surface of the earth is naturally red due to the presence of oxidized iron. Float up and down as the viewer and get lost in this coexisting phenomenon.

Artist Bio:

Orion Owens is a fine art photographer from San Diego, California. His unique approach to photography explores the limits of emerging aerial imaging technologies.
