"Water Table” questions the possibility of symbiotic relationships between the technological and natural. Pairing a synthetic and unprocessed representation of light refraction in water, the composition highlights a machine-trained “table” floating above the dataset that trained it. This video questions how humans can engage in a two-way technological consumption that give back to the materials that comprise its existence.

Artist Bio
Clayton McCracken is a Los Angeles based video artist harmonizing animation with live-action footage to unearth overlooked natural phenomena. Combining analog video synthesizers with innovative digital processing techniques, Clayton’s textural approach to video acknowledges the primitive as a tool to define the future. Clayton’s predominantly improvisational and audio-visual approach has opened the door to partner with clients such as Facebook, Adult Swim, and Nike and bands including Beach Fossils, Dirty Projectors, and Alabama Shakes.
