The title, Drag Swipe Click Pinch, references trackpad commands which are communicated through hand gesture. These gestures have been patented by Apple. Tenser, cut out aluminum forms based on these hand gestures, recognizing them as frozen forms rather than malleable hand movements. She physically animates these objects with the use of magnets inside a shallow tray filled with water.

Artist Bio
Alina Tenser's practice spans sculpture, video, performance, and interactive engagement. She has held solo exhibitions at Crush Curatorial, New York, NY; 17Essex, New York, NY, Konstepidemin, Gothenburg, SE; Soloway Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; AIR, New York, NY; and Nurture Art, Brooklyn, NY. She has participated in residencies including Recess Activities and The Queens Museum Studio Program. Tenser's work has been reviewed in publications such as New York Times, The New Yorker Magazine, Art Forum, Bomb Magazine, Cultured Magazine, Hyperallergic, and Brooklyn Rail. Tenser was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and lives in Brooklyn. She is an Assistant Professor at SUNY Purchase College.
